Over the last lap
So I woke up like the fitness fanatic that I am. Having been learning about how to make good habits last, courtesy of ‘The Atomic Habits’, I put on my training clothes, and lastly, my shoes✅
This morning it was a little different. I wasn’t too excited or motivated about it. I was contemplating it but I went on auto pilot and did what needed to be done. Went out for the regular run that I do every morning.
There was nothing too exciting about it, well at least for the first lap. The magic happened when I was halfway through the last lap. Usually when I’m about to give up running and I know I still need to keep going, I look to the ground and keep going. Seeing the ground sliding backwards against my feet motivates me a little to keep going.
Today though, while I gazed at earth for motivation, I heard a car horn going. I ignored and kept going. The horn blew again so I raised my head. And I was met by the a face of the driver, smiling from chick to chick. He had let go of the steering wheel and he was clapping hysterically. I smiled back, my heart skipped and I got so excited about the run I was even tempted to increase the pace.
From then on I didn’t feel the exhaustion anymore. The cheering did the magic. I finished on a high note. The sluggish feeling vanished and was replaced by enthusiasm and encouragement.
Then the Holy Spirit says to me, even in those days when u don’t feel like doing it, praying, studying the word, acting on it, just keep going. The Angels await over the last lap. To cheer you on for finishing well.❤️
Just as the driver let go of the steering wheel to cheer me on, it is crucial for us to let go of the steering wheels of our lives at some point and cheer others on. ❤️💕❤️
